Everything burns..

I was going to blog about something else, infact I started writing the post but this is something that I'm thinking about right now..so welcome to my mind. I pride myself in being able to multitask, infact sometimes I say that's one of my strengths but recently, I'm beginning to think it might actually be a weakness. I'm that lady who is talking work on the phone, chatting with a few friends while writing a script and at the same time doing chores. And no, i don't have 10 hands. I have only two like everyone else.

Really I think I multitask well, only sometimes, it backfires. I might be cooking and then decide that I need to do some chores or quickly send a work mail and there goes my presence of mind...I refuse to say I'm absent minded. I gat the Holy ghost and He reminds me of all things...Can i hear an Amen?

But really in my world everything burns, every single thing! Hubby even jokes about me and reminds me not to worship him with my burnt offerings...Don't get me wrong, i don't burn food all the time but i have the tendency to forget i've put things on the fire when i start to do other things.

I was talking to a blogger today, and mentioned to her i had not eaten anything as at 3pm..actually i was going to but kept putting it off...yeah i also procrastinate. She chased me to go eat, she was supposed to call me about some stuff we're working on together and she threatened not to call anymore. So i told her i was making noodles and she said 'burnt noodles is not sweet' and i said yeah i know, i'm only boiling an egg now. Well, she stepped out and my neighbour came in and we got talking about our our DSTV was acting up and bla...then i heard something pop in the kitchen...She asked if i had someone in the house...Yeah you got it right, that was when i remembered I was boiling an egg...and yes, my egg popped cos the water had dried up. I came back and told the blogger my egg got burnt and she was like wow...who burns boiled egg...Yes, who burns boiled egg but Writefreak...

So i burnt a boiled egg today and i'm ashamed to say the noodles also got slightly burnt! I just hate staying with food in the kitchen, i feel it's a waste of time when i have other stuff to do. But I'm beginning to think i might have to rethink it...maybe i should start carrying my computer to the kitchen? en? what do you think my blog family?

On another note, why do Nigerians always feel a need to swindle people especially when they know they're JJCs or foreigners? It's annoying me so much right now! Today my neighbour (who is Bulgarian) and I had issues with our DSTV and we called a technician to come and look at it. He did mine first then went upstairs and after he was done with hers, he came to tell me he was charging us 2k each. 2k is not a lot of money, but for what he did, which was to just touch the dish and do a little manipulation,t hat is just swindling! Unfortunately, she had paid him...i told her next time she should call me and let us agree...i eventually gave the guy an extra 1k and slashed 1k out of what he originally asked for...nonsense. lol

A few bloggers and I are writing a series...it's originally Favoured Girl's idea and there are about six of us...y'all should check it out here and give your ladies some support.

Hope your week has been good so far! laters! I'm cooking..need to go check it out! lol

Oh and by the way, it's my birthmonth and I'm starting to accept gifts o, y'all should start donating your gifts. June babies rock!

At least i know that when i come to visit you to keep an eye on the food i'll eat. I'm not a fan of burnt 'offerings'. lol!!

Me- i guess i'm one of the very few women who does not know how to multitask. IM'ing/emailing and at the same time talking on the phone- not very successful.

I have an idea...dare yourself to stay away from the laptop, crackberry, phone with IM for a WHOLE day...lets see if you'd die. I guess not.

Dont you wonder sometimes how we survived life before we all became tethered to the internet...we had good ol personal relationships not faceless blogging.

Heck! I'll stick with blogging anyhows...I'm positively ADDICTED.

this left me laughing real hard. Burning boiled egg? Never heard of that one!

Seriously though, maybe you should get a timer-like thingy.
You put the pot on the fire and you set the timer.
It should preferably be the type you can wear on your person o!
It would make no difference if you set the timer and leave it in the kitchen to go do other things would it? lol!

So when's you B-day?
I want my own cake o!

Standtall: the simple answer is greed...wanting to make more money than they should over a particular product or service!

rethots: no those aren't allowed to burn!

The Activist said...

you are right sha. Greed is the right word.

When I went to India, they wanted to sell some things for me for double price but the Inida lady by my side got angry. She did the pricing all the way.

When I tried t do that for an Oyinbo friend of mine in Lagos, those market pple feel I shd behave like I am one of them now. Just imagine!

Vera Ezimora said...

Oh, what do you know? I do have a twin!!

Babe, I pride myself in multitasking too. I do so many things @ the same time. Like you, I'm starting to wonder if this is a hindrance because sometimes I start so many things and end up not finishing anything.

Per cooking, I too burnt an egg! Did your egg look something like this http://www.verastic.com/2009/03/what-happens-when.html ?

It's gotten so bad that I sit on the freezer in the kitchen while I'm cooking. That seems to be the only way I can escape burning my food.

Tolulope Popoola said...

A little bird told me you had a birthday recently. How come I didn't get a slice of cake? lol

Happy birthday dearie, hope you had FUN and you are looking forward to another year of joy and God's blessings!

Geebee said...

Hey sis. Been a while. Hope you didn't allow that food burn this time. lol. Not really your fault now. just shows what a workaholic you are. Some would rather sit and have others do the simplest stuff for them while they watch T.V. Result? So many fat wives. lol. I'm back from my waka. How have you been? And happy birthday in arrears or advance (not sure now. But it's definitely this month, right?) Thanks for checking on me while I was away in Geebama Island. i brought some sea shells for you. lol

Zayzee said...

even to the extent that the water dried up and the egg popped? lol. u too much. maybe u should try setting reminders on ur phone once u step out of the kitchen

Anonymous said...

Happy birthday ....lol about your burnt antics.

How about ironing? What do you do with the clothes? Burn them?lollllll

Anonymous said...

lol @ JideSalu...apparently, u r not alone; u seem to have many co-egg burners...lol...reminds me of a naija movie (can't remember the title now) where Olu Jacobs was berating a spoilt daughter of his n said "boil an egg, u'll burn it!"...

I actually carry my laptop into the kitchen so i can cook n work @ d same time, so u should try that, and/or the timer suggestion...lol @ hubby's "don't worship me with ur burnt offerings" comment...

Happy birthday to u...here's wishing u a truly fulfilling new year...

Cheers...
